Virginian Cedarwood has been given the nickname “Red Cedar” due to the redness of its wood, however it is of the Juniper family and related to Cypress. Its soft, woodsy aroma falls between Cedarwood Atlas and Texas Cedarwood.  Cedars remind us of the outdoors and are grounding to us emotionally. They help us by promoting feelings of strength and overall wellness. The largest known living organism in the US is a family or grove of cedars that grows in Washington state.
Its berries, bark and leaves have also been long used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes. Cedarwood therapeutic properties include: antiseptic, astringent, decongestant, diuretic, and  expectorant*. It is used  repeatedly by aromatherapists for assisting with respiratory infections, cough, and bronchitis*. It is a powerful insect repellent.
Blends well with: Basil, Bergamont, Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Marjoram, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Lemon, Grapefruit, Orange, Petitegrain, Ravensara, Rosemary, Ho wood, Lemongrass, Clementine and Ylang ylang.
